How to Identify the Broken Pin Tumbler Lock Trace by Using Duplicated Flat Concave Tooth Key

This study has helped us to discover the regularity of the broken pin tumbler lock trace which is opened by a duplicated flat concave tooth key. We also try to seek the correct method to examine this particular trace. We noticed that the trace is affected by three critical factors. The first factor being machining marks, the second being comparison of two traces from original and duplicated flat concave tooth keys, also the hardness of the material. We conclude that the broken lock trace that has been caused by the duplicated flat concave tooth key is mainly concentrated on the spherical surface of the pin tumbler. The trace has linear patterns and matches the same direction with the original key trace. However the degree of reflection is based on the time of use and material type.
