Research on propagation nature of self-similarity of traffic in network

Zhang Lian-ming · Computer Engineering and Applications Journal · 2007

The nature of self-similar traffic in the data network is studied in this paper. And it proves that self-similarity of traffic can propagate between different aggregating traffic or between distant areas in the data network, and an afflux of new traffic to background traffic with self-similarity doesn't destroy the background traffic's self-similarity.What's more, these conclusions can offer more reasonable explanations to the common existence of self-similar traffic in the modern data network;and they can also apply references for effectively using shared network resources, choosing routing, balancing loads, and analyzing queuing performance in the network.
