According to the characteristics of convergence of the source energy and simple decoding of vector quantization after the wavelet transform,a new scheme for joint source-channel decoding is proposed and analyzed.A feedback algorithm using error-detected source information is designed to improve the error correction capability of the Turbo Log-MAP decoder.A reduction in bit error rate (BER) of at least one order of magnitude can be achieved by employing the proposed joint decoding technique.This may significantly reduce delay of decoding,making Turbo codes more appealing in many applications.
