Chaotic mappings have the features of initial-value sensitivity, ergodicity and randomicity, and are greatly fit for information encryption.Compared to 1D chaotic map, coupled map lattices mapping has greater complexity and larger key space, which makes it more suitable for information encryption. The hyperchaos property of coupled map lattices mapping was firstly analyzed, what's more, hyperchaotic mapping was used to generate non-collision index sequences with the key. Then the size of the key space and reliability of the key were analyzed by using the features of initial-value sensitivity and inherent randomicity of hyperchaotic mapping and a new digital image encryption algorithm was presented. Experimental results show that this algorithm can provide faster encryption and have larger key space and stronger anti-decryption-ability and rubustness to local breakage and pollution.
