A new mesh simplification algorithm based on triangle collapse

This article gives a new mesh simplification algorithm based on triangle collapse. The algorithm is used in the simplification of medical image 3D model with millions of triangles, and good results are acquired. The algorithm presents precise error control and reduces the number of triangles greatly. The algorithm keeps the topology of the original model, which makes the algorithm more robust.
