Method for computing correlation coefficient between structural risks in water transfer project

When analyzing the risk of water transfer project, the correlation between risks of structures must be considered; but the related study is very few at present. So the computing method, which can be used to compute the correlation coefficient between two safety margin functions which have correlative but not common variables, is presented based on probability theory and system reliability theory. The safety margin function of series system is reconstructed approximately; and as a consequence, the method for computing the correlation coefficient between risks of series system is also presented. The method is helpful in risk analysis for water transfer project and can be used in the other systems which have the similar computing models to that of water transfer project.
