Sign language is a dynamic visual-spatial language, and is the main means of communication in the deaf people. In deaf the cross-modal plasticity has been found in auditory cortex, which plays an important role in high cognitive function especially language processing. The plasticity was influenced by sign language that could be investigated by using the non-invasive magnetic resonance imaging technique. This paper overview the structure plasticity in auditory cortex of deaf,as well as the functional plasticity induced by the sign language experience and effect of the acquisition time of sign language.
