An Algorithm of Package Detection and Symbol Synchronization for IEEE802.16-OFDM

The package detection and symbol synchronization are major factors in OFDM performance.In this paper, we present the frame structure of IEEE802.16-OFDM, analyze the effect of symbol synchronization, study the synchronization algorithms based on ML.The relation of data is contaminated in the fading channel,so the performance of ML is affected.A new algorithm derived from the energy cost function is based on the character of the IEEE802.16 OFDM signal frame structure. The cost function J is different in different symbol synchronization states; if symbol synchronization is derived, J will be the minimum.Theoretical analysis and simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm can overcome the drawbacks of ML and get better performance.
