A Modified Alogrithm for Reducing Speckle Noise in SAR Image

This paper studies the technology of speckle noise suppressing,and a new method for reducing speckle noise in synthetic aperture radar(SAR) image is discussed.Traditional method and recent wavelet transform for reducing speckle noise have some shortcomings.The new algorithm combines the method of modified Lee with wavelet transform.Simulation results show that the algorithm can reduce the noise while sustaining the edge properties of natural SAR images in terms of speckle noise index,equivalent number of looks,smoothing index and edge sustaining index.
