Statistics of tunnel collapse accidents and its assessment based on case reasoning

In order to realize the collapse risk condition of Liuyang River Tunnel,statistical analysis causes of tunnel collapse was conducted from a lot of tunnel collapse examples.The main reasons were further explained in a mechanical way.Collapse risk of Liuyang River Tunnel was assessed by the application of case-based reasoning.The results show that the main incentive for the tunnel collapse is weak rock and rainfall,for weak rock has very poor mechanical properties and rainfall will weaken rock mechanics and reduce the effective stress in surrounding rock,et al.Thus it is easy to yield and become more instable;collapse risk of Liuyang River Tunnel is likely to occur.Monitoring information feedback and geological prediction are proposed to be paid more attention.
