The progress of the forest LAI estimation from remote sensing data

This review paper introduces the different concepts of LAI and describes the two main approaches of estimation LAI: empirical and physically - based approaches. The progress of remote sensing data applications on forest LAI estimation and multi - scale transformation of LAI has been analyzed. Based on the research development,prospects of the trends and the direction of LAI researches have been made.
