A Software Project Effort Estimation Model Based on Process Decomposition

Qiangbing Wang · 2005

The technique of expert estimation is widely used in the domain of effort estimation, while in most cases the transparence of the estimate process is unsatisfactory. In order to solve the problem of lacking transparence, an effort estimation framework based on process decomposition is put forward in this paper. This proposed framework supports expert judgments and analogy estimating. It uses Delphi method and process decomposition to reduce the subjectivity of the estimates, which makes the estimate process more transparent and more repeatable. The frame- work is concise, practicable, nexible and easy to popularize.
