RCC Topological Relations between Vague Regions Based on Rough Sets

Two methods based on rough sets were proposed to represent topological relations between vague regions in this paper. The background knowledge of RCC5 was presented, and rough regions were defined. Two methods based on rough regions were then proposed. One method represented the topological relations using the connections of lower and upper approximate regions of rough regions, and 6 topological relations were deduced. This method was then extended using the RCC5 relations and 51 topological relations were deduced. And the relations of these two ways were analyzed. The other method extended RCC5 model by defining the three-valued logic relation part-of ≤ and the operation complement ~.Then the relations of two rough regions X and Y were described with a three-valued logic triple:(X≤Y,X ≤ ~Y,Y≤ X).The eight relations were illustrated.
