New Adaptive Deringing Algorithm

Ringing effects seriously influenced the quality of restored image.A new adaptive deringing algorithm is proposed based on the deringing algorithm of MEPG-4.In the algorithm,edge parts are found firstly,then the median filter is applied to the image adaptively according to the cause of ringing effect.The results show that the proposed algorithm can reduce the ringing more effectively and can improve the subjective and objective quality of image compared to the existed algorithm.
