Design of General Signal Generator Based on AD9951

Direct Digital Frequency Synthesis(DDS) is a new technology in the field of frequency synthesis.Making use of the integrated DDS chip can satisfy the requirements of designing a high performance signal generator.In this article,the principle and function features of Direct Digital Synthesizer AD9951 is introduced and a method to design a general signal generator centered on AD9951,using a single chip to control is proposed.The significant part of hardware circuit of the system is illustrated and the main software is developed in compiling programming language to control the chip AD9951.Experiment results indicate that the hardware circuit construction is plain and the programming is flexible,besides,the hardware and software are both easily extended.Furthermore,the output signal is stable and has high frequency resolution.
