ASIC Design of High-Performance Interpolator Using Polynomial Filtering

Bo Yan · 2009

An effective method to design high-performance ASIC based on polynomial-filtering interpolator was proposed.By using parallel-series DA algorithm and folding technique for orthogonal binary coding(OBC),filtering and polynomial computation were accomplished with one multiplier. So,the memory space was reduced by 50%,compared to DA algorithm with the same parallelism. An interpolator featuring a system clock frequency of 300 MHz and a max insertion factor of 256 was realized in SMIC's 0.13 μm process. The superiority of the proposed technique in resource and flexibility over conventional poly-phase decomposition way was described.
