Research on definition and classification of inter-organizational information system

Inter-organizational information system (IOIS) is an information system shared by two or more firms. It is becoming a key element of Electronic Commerce and Electronic Business. On the basis of the literatures review concerning definition and classification of IOIS, the paper redefines the definition of IOIS. Then it presents a new classification method of IOIS based on multi-level and multi-criteria. And based on this method, the authors have carried out the classification of the information system of the inter-firms.
