Research on normalization of OBO and transformation of OWL DL based on BNF

Most of biological ontologies has been developed in the OBO format,including important ontolo-gies such as the Gene Ontology(GO).These resources have been contributed to the Semantic Web,especial the annotation experimental data in using a controlled and shared vocabulary.As the Web Ontology Lan-guage OWL becomes the W3C recommended standard for ontologies.It is essential that to converting OBO ontologies to OWL.In order to achieve this,we propose a normalization of the OBO syntax in terms of a BNF style grammar,and develop a rule to transform OBO format to OWL DL.
