Because the data detected in environment monitoring Wireless Sensor Network(WSN) has the characteristic of not changing or changing slowly, this paper proposed a difference compress algorithm. In this algorithm, the data of one packet will be obtained according to the last packet. It fit the network without data loss. But WSN has the probable of data loss because of the unstable wireless communication. So,the routing protocol of WSN has been changed to enable the algorithm to be used in WSN.The easy encoding and decoding enable this algorithm used in WSN with limited computing ability.Analysis and experiment show this algorithm could prolong the network life better.
