Location-aided ZRP in MANET

Qifeng Luo · Journal of Hunan University · 2009

This paper begins with the introduction of MANET and some current routing protocols, then analyzes the ZRP protocol in MANET and proposes a new improved protocol L-ZRP.L-ZRP is a kind of ZRP based on location information. In order to avoid the blindness of the route discovery,L-ZRP only starts the route discovery when the variation of the node location is greater than the certain extent.Through the location information of the destination node,L-ZRP could determine the packet forwarding domain so that it could limit the scope of the packet forwarding. In L-ZRP,the location information in the packets could also update promptly when the mobility of the node creates the obvious change of the position. These characteristics have enabled L-ZRP to adapt the mobility of the node. Finally, simulations are done by using NS2 for the L-ZRP.Through the analysis of the simulation result,it has demonstrated that L-ZRP has obvious improvement in the reduction of the routing overhead, the average end-to-end delay and the packet delivery ratio.
