Study on Channel Allocation Scheme Based on Queuing Theory

A Channel-Allocation scheme based on Queuing Theory is proposed for cellular mobile communications systems. The model includes two parts:voice channels and data guard channels.Guard channels are provided for data traffic to compensate data-packet loss probability.FIFO buffer is provided for voice calls, and handoff calls are given priority to be queued in the front of the buffer.Data traffic can occupy voice channels when they are free, the channels are occupied by data-packet should be released if voice channels are not available. Results show that the scheme not only decrease new call blocking probability and handoff call dropping probability, but also enhance data traffic performance.
