A probe into prosody and its transfer in the EST translation

From the perspective of prosody and based on Saussure's classification of parole and langue,this paper proposes to further divide the prosody in EST translation into Parole Prosody and Langue Prosody. The former consists of EST' s basic prosodic features and the author' s personal prosodic styles; the latter is mainly embodied in the unique prosodic characteristics of Chinese,including di-syllability and quadri-syllability in meter,symmetry and balance in utterance,and alternation in sound sequence. Parole Prosody should be maximally reproduced and Langue Prosody should be tactfully employed in the translation.
