Strengthen the Abilities of Independent Innovation and Promote the Scientific Development of Bast Fiber Production in China

The three key problems of lacking superior germplasm,outdated harvesting techniques and retting methods which retard the development of bast fiber production in China were studied in the current paper.For healthy development of the whole industry of bast fiber crops,the paper emphasized that abilities of independent innovation must be strengthened under the condition of well eguipmented facilities and competent manpower.To meet the market and environmental protection requirement,research teams of different backgrounds should be organized to tackle with all related problems facing the production and upperstream processing of raw bast fibers.
