A Method of Flow Control Based on RTCP

This paper firstly introduces flow control steps and available measures in real transmission protocol. Then,we analyses shortage of traditional flow control algorithm. And based on it,we propose a modified flow control algorithm. By means of modifying send rules of receiver report packet,setting tows thresholds of ratio of packets lost,and adjusting packet send interval and payload type,the algorithm can reduce ratio of packets lost and enhance the smooth data stream. The simulation result shows that the modified flow control algorithm can automatically adjust the transmission interval and payload type of RTP packet based on ratio of packets lost. So eliminating flow fluctuation due to jitter of packets lost.
