This paper summarized the heuristic procedure of crop growth simulation model, and expounded the concept and meaning of crop growth simulation model, research progress and its problem and development trend. The major research is focused on rice, wheat and maize crop growth simulation model. In recently years, the study for other crops, such as soy bean, cotton, tobacco, potato, alfalfa and some crop of gardening is conducted, too. In the end, based on the analysis of the problems of the existing crop growth simulation model, the development trend of crop growth simulation model is proposed.
