As a lightweight protocol,SOAP protocols usually exchange structured information in the decentralized and distributed environment. The main design goal of SOAP protocol is to be simple, extendible and interactive, but there are some performance bottlenecks in using SOAP for large data transfers in wide area network. This will limit the further extension of SOAP protocol and application. For this problem this paper presents a compression method of SOAP based on stream.Through this method,it allows the actual amount of transferred data over the WAN to achieve the minimum. And then this paper applies this method specifically in open source projects between Mondrian and Jpivot.Tests show that transmission efficiency obtained improvement significantly during the data exchange between the two.
