This paper analyses the real-time performance of embedded Ethernet in station level by dynamic simulation. Firstly, the end-to-end delay of message is studied in detail. The distribution and characteristic of data flow within substations are studied systemically, and subsequently the mathematical models of different kinds of data flow within substation are developed according to their statistical characteristics. Then a D2 substation communication network simulation model is built. Considering the message inter-arrival rule, the average and maximum link delay of embedded Ethernet in station level is studied thoroughly by simulation. After that, the influence of offload of TCP/IP protocol on message end-to-end delay is surveyed.
