Development of GIS-based urban seismic disaster mitigation information system :application of component object model

Using GIS to develop urban seismic disaster mitigation information system is an effective way to reduce urban earthquake disaster. However, the professional earthquake hazard models do not integrate tightly with GIS functions in the existed systems, so it is very important to enhance the research on the intelligent calculation of earthquake hazard. In this paper, the redeveloping methods usually used in the urban seismic disaster mitigation system are analyzed; the component object model (COM) technology and its applied methods in the developing of the system is also expounded; the interfaces and functions of the system using the COM technology are formulated in detail.
