Traditional Internet telephony C/S architecture based on ITU-T's H.323 or IETF's SIP,typically emploied a registration server for every domain, which was suffering the single point of failure, lacking of scalability. This paper proposed an innovative Internet telephony system: PPMessenger. It constructed a P2P overlay based on SIP-IPv6 that was self-organized and could integrate with existing NGN SoftSwitch system. This system not only solved the problems of traditional Internet telephony, but also achieved lower latency for locating the user when enormous users joined.Furthermore, advanced services such as offline message,presence,PC2Phone and conference could be well supported. An experimental study is presented to verify the advantages of PPMessenger.
