Study on Key Technique and Application of Outdoor AR System

Augmented Reality (AR) is an important branch of Virtual Reality technology with the features of combining virtual and real objects, real time interactions and 3-D registration. Outdoor Augmented Reality is a new direction in the field of AR research in recent years. The biggest obstacle when constructing a successful outdoor AR system is the lack of accurate tracking techniques in outdoor environment. Key techniques for outdoor AR and its difference from indoor AR are analyzed and recent development and applications of outdoor AR system are summarized.
