Applied Genre Analysis of Research Article Abstracts

With the abstracts of research articles from an high-quality academic journals issued by an English-as-a-first-language country as the corpus,this paper exams the content features and register features of research article abstracts in real corpus,and justifies these feature through genre analysis. Two schemas for writing research article abstracts are concluded and applicable guiding steps for how to write abstracts are proposed. This paper serves as an example for applied genre analysis.
