With the development of computer science, the range of soft-ware products is expanding fast and the scope of software products is getting wider. As a result of this expansion, software products are getting more complex, therefore it is difficult to develop quality software products within reasonable time-constraints. Software engineers are focusing on finding a way to understand software and a preferable solution to build a complex system. Study and analysis of software architecture are aimed at solving this problem. After analyzing several common software architectural styles, it is shown that depending on the goal and function of the software, a suitable architectural approach must be adopted. A proper architectural approach will lead to shorter software development life-cycles, resulting in savings in software development cost and maintenance.
