By transmitting data packets on variable paths, multipath routing can improve the reliability and security of the networks. This paper proposes a novel independent multipath routing protocol for Ad Hoc wireless networks-Multipath Destination Sequenced Distance-Vector(MDSDV),which is based on DSDV(Destination Sequenced Distance-Vector) routing protocol.MDSDV is implemented by a new way that closely combines independent paths detection with data packets transmission, and Multipaths are obtained by a mode similar to multicast. For attaining independent paths, intermediate nodes conserve the information of data packets they forward, which prevents them from forwarding the same data packet. The simulation results show that MDSDV increases the packet delivery ratio of data packets and reduces the packet drop ratio in the situation that nodes move comparatively fast and network load is not very large. As a result,MDSDV efficiently improves the network performance.
