Chaff jamming, one of the passive jamming, has aroused more and more attention in the world. In this paper, the varying features of wavelet coefficients of radar target signals and chaff jamming signals are investigated. The wavelet coefficients of radar target signals are highly correlated with its near and near scales wavelet coefficients, but the correlation between the wavelet coefficients of chaff jamming signals and its near as well as near scales wavelet coefficients are less significant. Two new recognition methods are presented in this paper, one for recognition of the chaff signal based on the gray principle and one for recogition of radar targets under chaff jamming based on the wavelet transform and correlationalgorithm. First, the echosignals are quickly decomposed by the Mallatalgorithm. Second, the correlation coefficient of near scales wavelet coefficients is calculated. The wavelet coefficients are processed through a threshold, and then the target signals are reconstructed and the radar target is recognized. Simulation results show that the two methods are efficient to recognizing chaff and radar targets under chaff jamming.
