A review of Generalized Phrase Structure Grammar

This article introduces the main theoretical machinery of Generalized Phrase Structure Grammar(GPSG).It shows how GPSG accounts for many of the language facts that involve movement operations in classical transformational-generative grammar.It also touches Ristad's finding that GPSG is computationally intractable.
