Improvement of UMHexagonS Based on Direction of Self-adaption Masterplate

In this paper,a new algorithm is introduced based on the study of the principles of the UMHexagonS algorithm,which improves on the UMHexagonS algorithm in some aspects.The search points are reduced which is relatively unimportant in the 5×5 full-search points.According to the direction of motion vector,trapezoid-grid search takes the place of multi-hexagon-grid search,the computational requirement is reduced and trapezoid-grid search can catch the direction of the optimal vector quickly.The result shows that the adaptive algorithm can reduce the time of motion estimation under the premise of little change on PSNR and bit rate.
