Recognizing and Matching of File Type based on Identifiers
Zhang Run-feng · Computers & Security · 2011
File type recognizing and matching is an essential element in computer file systems. It is always implemented in two methods: identifier(magic number) and postfix. The method based on postfix is more commonly used. But sometimes file names are changed and destroyed, and postfixes are absent,so these files can't be recognized or opened or edited.Identifier which is attached by file information is stored in file data body.It is defined uniquely and can't be modified or destroyed easily,so it can be used as a foundation for recognizing and matching.Based on Identifier, this paper builds an Identifier data table, with which a program for recognizing and matching of different file types is developed. This program is being used for achieving net files and mail attachments in a net data digging and rebuilding system.
