On Generated Shifts Given by Functional Shifts

Heman Fu · Journal of Zhaoqing University · 2008

A functional shift is defined as a shift space which is a set of sequences of some selfmaps on a finite set of symbols.Consider a sequence of maps(fi)i∈N in the functional shift. The sequence of functions determines a sequence of symbols(xi)i∈N by xi+1=fi(xi).Thus the functional shift can generate a shift space on finite symbols;this shift is called a generated shift given by the functional shift. In the case of 2 symbols, the generated shifts given by the full functional shifts are classified, and we obtain that the same generated shift may be given by different functional shifts.
