Template-based image registration in an optical butting system

To extend the field of view of an optical imaging system, an optical butting system is designed.In this system, the whole image plane is divided into four parts, each of which is received by an image sensor.The whole image is obtained by butting the four images received by the image sensors together.The image registration may be unstable since the vignetting arises in the four images.The image obtained by a traditional camera is used as a template to get a stable image registration.Comparing the results between the template-based image registration and the traditional image registration, it is shown that the template-based image registration is more stable and robust.
