An adaptive filtering algorithm for removal of impulse noise form images

An adaptive filtering algorithm preserving details to removal impulse noise from the gray-scale images is presented.The algorithm is composed of two steps: the first is to identify the noise in the image and the second step is to restore the noise pixels using the information around the noise pixels.Simulation shows that this algorithm performs better than the traditional ones in the details preserving ability,adaptability and filtering ability.
