Research on water resources scientific data collection system based on metadata

Based on the analysis of the status and existed problems of water resources scientific data collection in China,the necessity of establishing the relevant data collection system is put forward,for which it points out that the implementation of the water resources scientific data collection is just the key link for the sustainable development of both the data management and data sharing concerned.The framework of the system and the collection technical process are also studied herein and then a three-tier collection system based on the core metadata is presented in combination with the role of the metadata played in the water resources scientific data collection system,so as to obtain the basic situations such as the total amount,distribution etc.of the relevant data resources for giving the technical support to the effective implementation of the sharing service of the water resources scientific data.
