Research on the Role-Based Interorganizational Workflow

In the era of the Web, it is a hot topic how to manage interorganizational processes effectively to support electronic commerce. As a coordination technology, an interorganizational workflow management system has to support workflow interoperability. Prevalent workflow schema described in terms of activities and their relationship lacks the attention to the communication among participants and there exist no unified concept models. Workflow interoperability abstract specification of workflow management coalition is, therefore, only a technical standard, and new concepts and architecture are preferred. In this paper, roles and their coordination are utilized to model interorganizational workflows, which combine the advantages of customary workflow models. Moreover, some problems about interorganizational workflow models are analysed.
