Research of the robot head system with facial expression recognition and representation

A humanoid robot head system with facial expression recognition and representation functions was designed and developed,which is composed of humanoid robot head,image capture devices,facial expression and organ control system,as well as facial expression recognition system.The facial expression of human is captured by the image capture devices of the system,and it would be recognized with video sequence by SVMs(Support Vector Machines)and ASM(Active Shape Model).The mechanism for the eyeball,eyelid,jaw and the facial expression are redesigned and developed well.According to the recognition results,the control of the facial organ movements as well as the representation of seven different facial expressions is achieved.
