The invention of the transistor gives birth to the Semiconductor Revolution.This paper generally reviews the invention process of the transistor in Bell Telephone Laboratories,in which the role of W.B.Shockley(1956 Nobel laureate in physics) is scrutinized.After scanning the career of Shockley who is an outstandingly creative but also controversial figure,the paper shows some thoughts with science and technology management problems in diverse approaches.
