A New Streaming Media Transmission Scheme Based on SCTP

With the development of streaming media technology,the traditional transport protocol TCP which is strictly ordered and retransmitted by acknowledgement and the RTP and RTCP rate adjustment in the streaming media transmission scheme based on UDP can't meet the demand of streaming media transmission.Considering the characteristics of streaming media and the special requirements of the network and combining the stream control transmission protocol with the characteristics of multihoming,multistreaming and configurable disordered transmission and so on, demonstrates the new streaming media transmission scheme based on SCTP can suit the streaming media transmission better.The results under the environment of ns-allinone-2.28 show that the new streaming media transmission scheme based on SCTP has a lower loss rate and can better enhance the performance of streaming media transmission.
