RESEARCH ON ENERGY-EFFICIENCY ABOUT THE SLEEPING MECHANISM IN WIRELESS NETWORKS

The paper concluded the methods of the energy-saving for MAC protocol based on the power consumption rates in the course of the wireless sensor network communication,and researched the power saving mechanism for IEEE802.11 DCF and the period sleeping for the S-MAC protocol.The network simulation tool can be used to simulate the energy-efficiency of above two sleeping mechanism.The simulation results show that the S-MAC protocol using period sleeping has the better energy-saving efficiency.
