Safety enhance research based on DV-hop localization algorithm in Wireless Sensor Networks

Zhou Mingwe · Computer Engineering and Applications Journal · 2014

In Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs), it's crucial to determine the position of the nodes or events for its monitoring activities. However, the location systems proposed by some researchers are vulnerable to malicious attacks which can compromise the location function easily. Based on the research of the range-free location algorithm DV-hop, this paper researches a safe location scheme against the wormhole attack. It uses simple trigonometrical inequalities rules to check the legitimacy of the beacon nodes, then uses the RTT attribute of two adjacent nodes to check whether the wormhole links exist, through correcting the hops between the nodes to realize the secure location of the unknown nodes. Simulation results show that this scheme can recognize the illegal beacon nodes effectively, and weaken the influence made by wormhole attacks.
