Based on Web Service and XML a configurable middleware used for data exchange and integration is developed. The difficulties in data integration of the middleware is discussed, including identifying the data sources, the mapping between data in data sources and XML data, the syntax check of command such as Select,Insert, ect, the foundation of transform rules. The developed middleware is applied in data integration of archive system and OA system. And data retrieval, data exchange, data migration and data update in the heterogeneous data sources are well done.
