A Fast Intra-prediction Mode Decision in H.264

The authors give a fast intra prediction arithmetic using SATD and spatial correlation. It can avoid unnecessary RD cost, and accordingly reduce the complexity of intra prediction greatly. Compared with the H.264 encoder JM86,experimental results show that the proposed scheme reduces the whole coding time greatly while the psnr and the bit rate remain nearly unchanged.
