Improving the echo resolution of weather radar can increase the accuracy of severe weather warning and forecasting. In this paper,an improved total variation regularization method is used to improve the weather radar echo resolution.By use of the relevant knowledge between adjacent range bins as prior information to partial constraint of the reconstructed echo while in the process of super-resolution reconstruction, the detailed information of the reconstructed echo is recovered. The gradient descent algorithm is used to approach the original echo and through the evaluation system to evaluate the performance of the proposed method.Based on the actual data acquired by weather radar, the reconstructed echo is obtained. The simulation experimental results show that the proposed approach can recover the edge structural information effectively, and improve the resolution of radar echo.
